Fontane-Haus

The Fontane-Haus Kulturzentrum is a multifunctional cultural centre located in the Merkischesviertel district of Berlin’s Reinickendorf district. Since its opening in 1976, it has greatly enriched the cultural life of the German capital with around 200 events per year. Since the beginning, it has hosted events as part of the Reinickendorf Classcis Berlin, and since 2008 it has hosted FAMILIEN CLASSICS with concerts for children and families.

The Fontane-Haus was originally intended for the recreation and entertainment of the 50,000 people living in the immediate vicinity, but the wide range of facilities made it possible to bring together the most diverse events under one roof, making the Fontane-Haus famous even abroad. The cultural centre now hosts concerts, theatre productions, children’s parties, dances for adults, festivals and exhibitions.

The centrepiece of the Fontane-Haus is the Großer Festsaal, a large hall with a capacity for 1,000 visitors, which can be divided into six separate rooms using movable partitions. In addition, the building also houses the Merkischesviertel district administration, the Grafoteka Berlin, the district library, the music school, the Adult Education Centre, the Senior Citizens’ Entertainment Centre, the American Western Saloon and the Märkisches Zentrum shopping centre.
